ISO 17025-accredited lab Beta Analytic invites manufacturers and distributors of biobased products to join its webinar focused on biobased content testing, the USDA BioPreferred Program and case study on Greenology Products.
Live Webinar: April 13, 2023 * Available on Demand *
Ms. Gershon will discuss the terminologies used in the biobased industry and why testing is necessary, not only as part of certification programs but as a marketing tool to make your products stand out from competition.
Overview: Understanding Biobased Carbon Measurement
ASTM D6866 is an analytical standard developed in 2014 specifically for the USDA BioPreferred Program. This standard measures the percentage of biobased carbon as a fraction of the total organic carbon in the material. Using an accelerator mass spectrometer, ASTM D6866 distinguishes carbon resulting from contemporary biomass-based inputs from carbon sourced from petrochemicals.
Dr. Handfield is an industry expert on strategic sourcing, supply market intelligence, and supplier development. He will talk about the USDA BioPreferred Program, which provides federal agencies with tools and training to help them meet their biobased purchasing requirements, as well as aid the general public to easily identify commercially-available biobased products.
An applicant must first submit all the necessary information through the BioPreferred website before biobased content testing any product. Note: Results obtained in advance of the signed agreement and acceptance into the program will not be accepted by the USDA.
Successful applicants can affix the USDA Certified Biobased Label on the product, packaging or marketing materials.
Ms. McGaughy has formulated innovative natural cleaning and personal care products for Greenology Products’ large private-label customers in the past 3 years. Her favorite projects include developing a dehydrated cleaning line, enzymatic formulations, and an anhydrous body balm. She also leads the team in charge of Greenology Products’ USDA Certified Biobased Label applications.
The webinar will also include a panel discussion. To send any questions in advance, please email Ms. Gershon at firstname.lastname@example.org.
